The Circle has published two reports considering the risks and opportunities that we face in Aotearoa around any potential changes to our regulatory settings

Transportation is key to both our wellbeing and sustainable prosperity. It is a requirement for migration, for community cohesion, for food distribution and for the provision of other essential goods and services. However, our transport system is vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. This report lays out several plausible but challenging, hypothetical futures for our transport sector.

Aotearoa New Zealand is dependent on a thriving and efficient energy sector; climate change will almost certainly influence the way that we both generate and use energy. This report provides a set of Climate Change Scenarios for New Zealand energy sector. These scenarios explore what the sector could look like under different, hypothetical climate futures.

This report is the first of its kind to pull together in one place a snapshot of the raft of regulations and changes that are happening offshore – it demonstrates that the global landscape for ESG reporting obligations is changing quickly and substantially. It is a guide to how those changes impact our need to future proof our reporting.

Tapping into the expertise of the agriculture industry, growers, government, iwi māori and scientists, we have worked collectively to develop climate scenarios and a roadmap of actions to create a sector that is proactively planning for the future and building long-term resilience.

The Tourism Adaptation Roadmap, written in collaboration with public and private sector industry experts, will help ensure the sector is resilient and reducing the impact of climate change, creating an abundant regenerative tourism sector that ensures people, planet and prosperity are balanced.

Farmers, growers and producers are experiencing first hand the devastation of increasing extreme weather events. The development of these climate change scenarios provides consistent data for the sector who are seeking to mitigate and adapt and will serve as the basis for the Agri-Adaptation Roadmap.

In our 2023 legal opinion, in partnership with Chapman Tripp, seeks to provide clarity and direction on the legal duties of New Zealand Directors to manage natural capital related risk.

These scenarios provide critical structure to an uncertain future for the Tourism sector, detailing what the sector will look like under different climate scenarios and serving as the foundational document for the soon-to-be released Tourism Adaptation Roadmap.
